Anyone who has ran into me in the last week or so will know about my new life changing obsession with the Law of Attraction, The Secret, Manifestation - all of that good stuff. It all may sound completely wacky, but I honestly completely believe in the power of the law of attraction, for one real reason - why not?
Why not believe that if you do good, and think positively, that good things will come to you? Why not believe that your dream will come true? I know why. Because we are so often told that we dream too big.
This is what I think.
If I want my dream career in fashion and writing. If I want an amazing apartment that makes me feel happy and inspired in New York, London, Sydney, wherever. If I want lifelong friends that are truly on the same page as me, who support me, who are equally as driven and determined, and who will be there through thick and thin. If I want a healthy, loving, family one day. If I want to wake up every morning and seriously be pretty bloody happy to be alive (without being overly happy-clappy-naturallyonfivecupsofcoffee), why the heck can’t I?
There is nothing, other than the negative thoughts of others, that will stop you from doing exactly what you want. We all have dreams - big dreams, small dreams, different dreams. Sometimes, we doubt them. Why? Because we are so often taught that our dreams are just that - dreams, by society.
By your friends who laugh when you say you want to do this, that and another amazing thing. By your school who drill into you that life isn’t fair and that you’ll have to make great sacrifices, which often means being stuck in a 9-5 office job that you hate, because apparently your exams, your ATAR score and your university choice define you. By society in general, who push for traditional jobs and lifestyle choices. By the government, for setting up a very grim, houseless, jobless future for us young ones. By your parents, who despite supporting your dreams, probably still think that you should have a fall back incase it doesn’t work out (and they secretly believe that the fallback is a reality). By the media, for continually letting us all know about how us millennials are going to be poor and about how the world is dying but hey, it’s your job to fix it.
This isn’t necessarily how I feel at the moment, but I have felt angry at all of the above at some point in the past few years, and I still feel like the majority people have these mindsets. The law of attraction, like Newtons law, gravity and all of that other science, Dr. Who stuff, gives you the power to not only change your mindset, but absolutely change your life and the course it will run.
The Law of Attraction (LOA) is a very complicated concept, that admittedly I am new too, however, I am going to try and break it down into two factors or ideas. Yes, just two. Because there are many ins and outs of this concept, but these are the two that I have grasped and deemed to be the most important if you want to change your life, and start today.
Firstly, to harness the LOA, you have to realise that you already have the means to be and do whatever you want, you just need to be clear with your dream, and be able and ready to absolutely, 110% commit and embrace it.
This means working hard, putting all of your energy towards your dream, even if that means you will be tired, exhausted and sometimes run down. If it means you have to work in five average jobs before you have your desired job or career. If it means cutting out people who aren’t benefiting your life. Not in a superficial way, because this may come across as very selfish. By culling dead weight, people who bring your mood, and everyone else’s down, people who are cynical, negative, not driven, not supportive, jealous - anything along those lines. Because at the end of the day, having them in your life only brings you down too, and you haven’t got time for that. Basically, in order for the LOA to work, to bring you what you WANT, you need to be ready to take action. Because this isn’t some magic trick. Nothing will come to you if you just sit on the couch all day, and keep plodding along in the same direction you always have been. Even if this means starting somewhere simple, like decluttering your room, or setting your alarm half and hour earlier. Anything that will get you moving. To harness the law of ATTRACTION, you have got to take ACTION. (Cringe, I know, but catchy, right?) Anyway, moral of the story is, if you put in the hard yards, you will be rewarded.
The second factor or idea that really makes this law work, is belief in the power of positive thoughts.
The Secret talks about how everything in the world - you, me, a piece of paper, a skyscraper, and that piece of gum - is made up of energy. Basically, we are all little vibrating blobs. The more positive our thoughts are, the higher frequency we are vibrating at, literally. Because when you think positive thoughts, even if it is something as simple as “That’s a nice outfit,” you feel happier, act happier and are just happier in general. The happier you are, the more confident you become. When you are confident, happy, and positive in general (without overdoing it of course, because no one likes a show off, gosh), you attract other people like you. You attract other positive thoughts, positive experiences - just good stuff all round basically. Think about it, it makes perfect sense. When you walk into a party, you're instantly attracted to the person laughing or dancing, not the sad sobbing mess in the corner. People are surrounding the outgoing, happy one, because they are attracted to the positivity that surrounds this person. If you truly believe in the power of positive thoughts; positive events, people, and things will come. Trust me. Everything is meant to be.
If you close your eyes right now, and visualise your dream, exactly where you want to be, what you want to be doing, if you can do that, and truly, clearly, see yourself there, there is nothing stopping you from making that dream a reality. Heck, even if your dream is to be the editor of Vogue, or be the next Bill Gates, or even the Prime Minister - someone has got to do the job, so why shouldn’t it be you?
If this isn’t real talk, I don’t know what is.
Lights, camera, ACTION, people!
